Software or hardware

Noota is software. Plaud Note is a physical recorder with an optional desktop app.

Plaud records through a pocket device (Plaud Note or NotePin) bound to your account. Its desktop app for macOS and Windows also records your computer's audio without a bot.

Noota runs on the computers and phones you already have. Its Desktop app (macOS and Windows) captures your computer's audio on Pro, Business and Enterprise, so no bot appears in the participant list; a meeting bot is also available. Tell participants you are recording, as with any tool.

What is the main difference between Noota and Plaud?

Noota is software: you record from your computer or phone with no device to buy. Plaud is a hardware recorder: Plaud Note costs €169 on its EU store (VAT included) and the Starter plan included with the device covers 300 transcription minutes per month, with an optional Pro plan at €99.99 per year for 1,200 minutes. Noota has a Free plan and Pro at €19 per user per month billed annually (excl. VAT). For phone calls, Plaud Note's vibration sensor records cellular calls through your carrier, while Noota Business offers cloud VoIP calling with local numbers in 30+ countries (€5 per number per month).

Which meeting platforms and languages does Noota support?

Plaud's desktop app (macOS and Windows) records computer audio without a bot in the call, but it needs an account bound to a Plaud device; otherwise, recording an online meeting means placing the device near the speakers or importing audio. Noota's Desktop app, available on Pro, Business and Enterprise, captures Zoom, Google Meet and Teams on macOS and Windows, with transcription in 50+ languages, recordings up to 10 hours and files up to 4 GB.

How do Noota and Plaud compare on pricing?

Plaud: the Starter plan (300 minutes per month) is included with the device; Pro is $99.99 or €99.99 per year ($17.99 monthly) for 1,200 minutes per month, and unused minutes don't carry over; Team starts at $20 per user per month billed annually ($28 monthly). Plaud Note costs $159 or €169 (VAT included on the EU store) and NotePin $159. Noota: a Free plan, Pro at €19 and Business at €39 per user per month billed annually (€29 and €49 monthly), excl. VAT. Euro and dollar prices are not converted.

Where is meeting data stored, and does either tool train on my data?

Noota processes data in the European Union on Google Cloud (Belgium and Netherlands), offers a sovereign environment on Scaleway (Paris) and Bleu (Enterprise) and does not train AI models on customer data on any plan. Plaud hosts EU accounts on AWS Frankfurt and Americas accounts on AWS Oregon, and its documentation states customer data is not used to train or improve AI models by Plaud or any subprocessor; its AI subprocessors (OpenAI, Google, Microsoft) work under zero-retention enterprise agreements.

How many languages does Plaud support?

Plaud lists 112+ languages, with one language per recording. Noota transcribes in 50+ languages.
